SYRACUSE, NY –Syracuse will host Maine in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, December 5, at the Carrier Dome. It marks the first time the two programs have met since a 1996 encounter in the Great Alaska Shootout.
    Syracuse has a 3-0 record in the all-time series with Maine. The two teams first competed in the 1922-23 campaign. The Orange won that pairing, 17-13. In the 1984-85 season the Black Bears came to the Dome and were defeated by Syracuse, 84-65. The 1996 Great Alaska Shootout featured an 85-65 SU triumph.
     Maine posted a 9-21 record last season. Coach Ted Woodward is in his sixth season in charge of the program.
