Trio Earns BIG EAST Football Honors

Wide receiver Mike Williams is the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and kicker Ryan Lichtenstein is the BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week, while linebacker Derrell Smith earned a place on the league's weekly honor roll for their performances in SU's 37-34 victory against Northwestern. Williams had a career-best 11 catches and 209 yards, two touchdowns (66, 13). His 11 receptions is tied with Shelby Hill (vs. Cincinnati, 1993) and Kevin Johnson (at West Virginia, 1998) for second on SU's single-game receptions record list, while his 209 yards is fourth on the school's single-game record list. Lichtenstein hit 3-of-4 field goals, including a game-winning 41 yarder as time expired, and also made 43 yarder and 37 yarder and converted all four extra point attempts. Smith had 10 total tackles, including eight solo, two sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Williams is also one of four nominees for the AT&T All-America Player of the Week for his career-best performance. Fan voting determines the winner each week. Williams and quarterback Greg Paulus earned a 'Helmet Sticker' from ESPN College Gameday host Rece Davis for their performance.
