Following recent security bulletins issued by federal counterterrorism officials to local law enforcement agencies across the country about maintaining increased vigilance at stadiums, entertainment complexes and hotels, Syracuse University wishes to remind fans of security procedures and items that are prohibited on game day for the remaining home football games in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse hosts the University of Maine this Saturday (Sept. 26) at 7:00 p.m. (Orange All Access/Time Warner Cable Sports). SU's remaining games are Oct. 3 vs. South Florida; Oct. 10 vs. West Virginia; Oct. 24 vs. Akron; Oct. 31 vs. Cincinnati; and Nov. 21 vs. Rutgers.
Prohibited items include all large bags, backpacks, duffel bags, food, beverages, video cameras, artificial noisemakers, air horns, electronic instruments, laser pointers, large signs, flags, banners, any type of ball, frisbees, animals (excluding certified service animals), skateboards, in-line skates, firearms, explosives, bottles, cans, and coolers or other containers, except in cases of medical needs certified by a physician.
Smaller articles will be subject to physical search at all open gates. No checkroom is available for prohibited items, so those possessing prohibited items will be instructed to return the items to their vehicle or place of residence. In addition, no trash receptacles will be available outside the Carrier Dome.
The following items will be permitted to be brought inside the Carrier Dome on game day: Small purses, binoculars (and cases), non-professional still cameras (and cases), stadium seat cushions, cellular phones and pagers. Patrons with any of these items should expect to be asked by security search personnel to step out of the ingress line and have the items inspected. These patrons are asked to please cooperate with all security personnel. The fewer items brought to the stadium, the faster the search process will proceed.
Uniformed and civilian security personnel will be placed throughout the Carrier Dome to enforce the search and security measures.
Patrons are urged to arrive early to avoid delays at the entry gates.
Football tickets are available online and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (888-DOME-TIX). A limited number of the special $15 individual game tickets in 'Touchdown Town' are available.
