
MacTavish Leads Syracuse at Pitt

Senior outside hitter Kacie MacTavish led the Orange offense with 10 kills in a 3-0 setback at Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon. Syracuse moved to 11-5 overall and 1-1 in BIG EAST play while the Panthers improved to 10-6 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
MacTavish led the team in kills for the sixth time this season while senior middle blocker Sarah Morton and sophomore outside hitter Noemie Lefebvre each added nine kills for SU. Rookie setter Laura Homann remained consistent in the middle, dishing out 31 assists.
Senior libero Shanetha McLaurin led Syracuse defensively with 15 digs while MacTavish ranked second with 12.
The two teams traded points in the first set, tying at 20, 21, 23, 25 and 26 before the Panthers scored the final two points to take the set, 28-26. The Orange struggled to come strong Pittsburgh net play as the hosts held the edge in kills, hitting percentage and blocks.
Pittsburgh took the second set, 25-16 before completing the sweep with a 25-19 third-set victory.
The Orange returns to the court on Friday, October 2, looking to extend its home unbeaten streak against Rutgers at 7 p.m.
