
Bennett-Hattan Makes Seven Saves at No. 16 Connecticut

STORRS, Conn. – Senior Eliza Bennett-Hattan recorded seven saves in Syracuse's 5-0 setback at RV/#16 Connecticut on Sunday, Sept. 27 in Storrs, Conn. The Orange goes to 4-5-2 overall this season and 1-2 in BIG EAST action, while the Huskies improve to 7-3 overall, 2-1 in league play.
Connecticut took the lead in the 26th minute when Linda Ruutu scored on an assist from Erin Clark. The Huskies increased their lead when Jessica Shufelt's shot went off the cross bar and into the goal to give UConn a 2-0 halftime advantage. Melissa Busque netted the first goal of the second half when she converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute. Connecticut added two more goals for the 5-0 final.
The Huskies outshot the Orange, 18-8, and both teams recorded five corner kicks. Connecticut goalkeeper Jessica Dulski made four saves. She and Ally Mancino combined for the shutout.
Syracuse returns to the SU Soccer Stadium on Friday when it hosts Cincinnati at 7 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
