
Moore Returns to Mentor SU Receivers

Former Syracuse University standout and NFL All-Pro Rob Moore is returning to his alma mater to coach the Orange wide receivers, head football coach Doug Marrone announced today. The 12-year National Football League veteran is the wide receivers coach for Phoenix Junior College and is a consultant for Protect Management and Athlete's Performance, training collegiate football players who are entering the NFL draft. He is also a football analyst for ESPN Radio 860 Am in Phoenix where he participates in Arizona Cardinals broadcasts. During the Spring of 2009, Moore completed an internship at Syracuse with Marrone.
A 1989 All-American, Moore still holds the Syracuse record for average receiving yards per game (75.8) and touchdown receptions (22), while his 2,122 career receiving yards is third in school history. Moore was the first Orange receiver to amass more than 1,000 receiving yards in one season. He is a member of Syracuse's All-Century Team.
The first overall selection in the 1990 NFL supplemental draft, Moore closed his 12-year pro football career with 628 receptions for 9,386 yards and 49 touchdowns in 153 games. He earned a spot on the NFL All-Rookie team after his first season in which he caught 44 passes for 692 yards and six touchdowns with the Jets. In 1994 Moore earned All-Pro honors and was named to the Pro Bowl after posting 78 receptions for 1,010 yards and six touchdowns for the New York Jets. The Professional Football Writers Association named him to its All-NFC Team.
Moore was traded to the the Arizona Cardinals following the 1994 season, where he played for seven years. In 1997, he earned his second Pro Bowl nod after catching 97 passes for an NFL-leading 1,584 yards and eight touchdowns.
After retiring from the NFL, Moore was a wide receivers coach at Montclair (N.J.) High School in 2002 and 2003.
In 1992, Moore founded the Rob Moore Books and Ball Camp to assist high school football players who aspire to continue their education with SAT preparation, essay writing, and public speaking and to achieve on the field. Moore was a technical consultant for and appeared in the motion picture, Jerry Maguire.
A native of Hempstead, N.Y., Moore earned a BS in sociology from Syracuse in 1990. He and his wife, Dru have four children, including three daughters, Dakota, Savoy and Meadow and a son, Satchel.
