Josh Pace, a member of Syracuse's 2003 NCAA Championship squad, has agreed to terms with New Zealand's LPG Bay Hawks and is headed back overseas to continue his professional basketball career.
Pace, who is currently averaging 18 points and 7 rebounds per game with the second-ranked SE Texas Mavericks of the ABA, will report to the Bay Hawks in March at the conclusion of the Mavericks' season.
Nate McCray, Pace's agent with Dynasty Sports Management, advised that his client was pursued by many teams within the NBA Developmental League this fall after Pace was selected into the D-League draft but decided to pass on the low salary the opportunity would offer. Pace's high -evel play also piqued the interest of teams in Israel, Germany, Australia and the NBA.
After the season with the Bay Hawks, McCray says he will seek a free-agent opportunity with a team in the NBA but will not rule out available opportunities within the higher markets of Greece, Italy, France, Spain and Germany in 2010.
