
Ohio State Deals SU 5-1 Loss

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Syracuse University women's ice hockey came up short in non-conference action, 5-1, at Ohio State on Friday, Oct. 29. The Buckeyes held a 34-22 advantage in shots and converted on 2-of-4 power-plays.
Ohio State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just 3:20 into the contest and stuck again only a minute later. Senior Julie Rising put SU on the board 6:32 into the second period to bring the Orange within one. Senior Stefanie Marty and junior Megan Skelly assisted on the score.
The Buckeyes responded just four minutes later, increasing its lead to two. A penalty occurred at the time of the goal and resulted in an Ohio State power-play. OSU converted on the opportunity tallying its fourth goal just 13 seconds later to give the Buckeyes a 4-1 lead after two periods.
Ohio State registered its final goal 35 seconds into the third period on a power-play. Both teams were held scoreless through the final 19:25 of play to produce the final score of 5-1.
Freshman goaltender Kallie Billadeau earned her fourth start and recorded 11 saves in 31:12 of action. Fellow rookie Jenesica Drinkwater took over in net for the Orange after OSU's third goal and turned away 18 shots.
The Orange will face off against the Buckeyes again tomorrow (Oct. 30) at 4 p.m. at the OSU Ice Rink. The game will be streamed live on Buckeye Vision and live stats will also be available.
