VILLANOVA, Pa. - Outside hitters Noemie Lefebvre and Hayley Todd each had 13 kills as Syracuse (18-2, 1-2) dropped at 3-1 decision to Villanova (14-4, 3-1) on Sunday afternoon at Nevin Fieldhouse. After dropping the first set, 25-19, the Orange rallied back for a 27-25 second-set win, but the Wildcats captured the next two, 25-14, 25-22, to take the match, 3-1.
Lefebvre notched her 41st career double-double in the contest with 13 kills and 10 digs while Todd added 13 kills, eight digs and a pair of block assists. Senior right side Mindy Stanislovaitis added nine kills and a match-high tying five blocks while freshman middle Lindsay McCabe paired seven kills with five blocks. Sophomore middle Samantha Hinz added four blocks and a pair of service aces while classmate Laura Homann dished out 40 assists and had eight digs.
Defensively, senior libero Sarah Hayes set the tone for the back row with 16 digs while sophomore defensive specialist Zoe Guzman added 10.
Syracuse opens BIG EAST play at home when it hosts Connecticut on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Women's Building. Admission and parking is free.
