SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse fans – let your voice be heard – vote for head coach Doug Marrone as the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year. Vote once a day, every day at www.coachoftheyear.com to honor Marrone as a college head coach who demonstrates responsibility and excellence on and off the field.
In just his second season at the helm of the Syracuse program, Marrone has guided his alma mater to a 7-3 record and a bowl berth in 2010. The seven victories are the most in a season for the Orange since it won six games in 2004. Syracuse also made its last appearance in a bowl game that season.
Syracuse has also enjoyed success in the classroom during Marrone's tenure. The Orange earned the 2009 BIG EAST Academic Excellence award. In addition, three student-athletes were voted to the ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-District team, which were the most of any BIG EAST school.
Fan votes help determine the finalists for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award. If Marrone becomes a finalist, he has the opportunity to win $50,000 for his favorite charity and $20,000 for the Syracuse University Alumni Association. Finalists for the award will be announced on December 13.
