PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Julie Rising netted a pair of goals in a 4-2 loss against Princeton on Friday. Despite two third-period goals from Rising, SU ran out of time in game one of the non-conference series.
The Tigers held a 14-8 advantage in shots in the first period and led 1-0 heading into the first intermission. The Orange fired 17 shots on net in the first two stanzas, but Princeton led 2-0 after two periods. The Tigers poured in two more goals to start the third period, but SU's power-play squad responded.
With 10:39 remaining in regulation on an SU power-play, Rising put Syracuse on the board. The play was started by junior Taylor Metcalfe and senior Stefanie Marty, who were credited with assists on the play. Less than three minutes later, Rising struck again on a man-up opportunity off assists from sophomore Isabel Menard and freshman Christina LaCombe. SU had eight shot attempts in the last six minutes of play, but the Orange could not manage to overcome the deficit.
