SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 5/5 Syracuse goes for its 12th consecutive victory when it hosts Morgan State on Monday, December 20 at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. The Orange improved its record to 12-0 with a win against Iona on Saturday, while the Bears are 4-4 this season.

NO REST FOR THE ORANGE
Syracuse's game against Morgan State is the second of three games it will play in a span of five days. The Orange defeated Iona, 83-77, on Saturday. On Wednesday, Syracuse hosts Drexel at 7 p.m.
ORANGE IN RARE COMPANY
Following Saturday's games, Syracuse was one of eight Division I schools to remain unbeaten. The Orange is off to an 11-0 start for the second straight season and for the 10th time in Coach Jim Boeheim's 35-year tenure as head coach. The Orange improved to 12-0 in seven of those seasons.
JOSEPH LEADS THE ORANGE BY IONA
Junior Kris Joseph scored a team-high 21 points to lead Syracuse to an 83-77 victory against Iona. He also tied his season high with seven rebounds to go along with four assists. The game marked the second time this season Joseph has scored more than 20 points in a contest. He is the Orange's leading scorer this season, averaging 13.8 points per game.
WAITERS SOLID OFF THE BENCH
Freshman Dion Waiters contributed 12 points in Syracuse's five-point victory against Iona on Saturday. It marked the second consecutive game that he has reached double figures in scoring and the fifth time this season. Waiters is Syracuse's leading scorer off the bench, averaging 7.9 points per game. He's become more of an offensive threat in the last five games. During that span he has scored in double figures four times and averaged 11.5 points per game.
A LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse improved its record to 10-0 with an 83-77 victory against Iona on Saturday, December 18 in the Carrier Dome. Junior Kris Joseph led the Orange with 21 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.
The Orange led by as many as 11 in the first half and held a 37-31 advantage at halftime. Iona's Mike Glover scored 14 of his 25 points in the first 20 minutes to help keep the Gaels close.
Syracuse opened the second half on a 9-5 scoring run to increase its lead to 46-36 at the 17:14 mark. The Orange continued to increase its advantage and seemed to be well on its way to its 12th straight victory when it led by 15, 76-61, with 4:40 remaining. But the Gaels wouldn't go away. Kyle Smyth hit a three-pointer with 4:19 on the clock, sparking Iona on a 10-1 offensive spurt, which cut SU's lead to 77-71 with 1:36 left. Two free throws by Scoop Jardine halted the scoring run and gave the Orange an eight-point advantage, but the Gaels were able to cut the lead to five at 79-74 with 25 seconds left in the game. Syracuse converted 4-of-6 attempts from the free throw line in the final 23 seconds to secure the victory.
Sophomore Brandon Triche tied his career high with seven assists to go along with 14 points, while freshman Dion Waiters added 12 points off the bench. Jardine finished with 11 points.
SCOUTING MORGAN STATE
Morgan State defeated Maryland Baltimore County, 75-62, on Saturday for its second consecutive victory and evened its record at 4-4 this season. The Bears are the defending MEAC conference regular-season and tournament champions.
DeWayne Jackson is Morgan State's leading scorer this season, averaging 15.4 points per game. Kevin Thompson is also averaging double figures in scoring, recording 14.0 per contest. He is also the Bears' leading rebounder, pulling down 9.4 per game.
Head coach Todd Bozeman is in his fifth year at Morgan State. He has guided the Bears to 148-90 record since taking over the helm of the program. Previously, Bozeman served as the head coach at the University of California from 1992-96, where he led the Bears the three NCAA Tournament appearances. Bozeman has also served as an assistant coach at Tulane and George Mason.

Monday's game marks the first meeting between Syracuse and Morgan State on the hardwood.
