SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 8/7 Syracuse puts its seven-game winning streak on the line when it hosts North Carolina State on Saturday, December 4 in the Carrier Dome. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. The Orange is 7-0 this season, while Wolfpack enters the game with a 4-2 mark this season.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office. Fans not in attendance can watch the game live on ESPN2 or listen to the action via the Syracuse ISP Radio Network and its flagship TK99 (99.5 FM). The audio stream of the broadcast will be available on Orange All Access on SUathletics.com. Subscriptions to Orange All Access are available at daily, monthly and yearly rates.
Fans that have a ticket for the men's game against North Carolina State will be admitted to the Syracuse women's basketball contest against Delaware State University on Saturday free of charge. Game time is set for noon in the Carrier Dome.
Plan to arrive early and attend the Sport Management Club's Charity Sports Auction. Doors will open for the auction at 3 p.m. through Gates A, B, C and E. The auction will end at the start of the second half.
HALFTIME PRESENTATION TO HONOR ORANGE FOOTBALL
Yankees' Executive Director of the New Era Pinstripe Bowl Mark Holtzman will be on hand for a halftime presentation to Syracuse head football coach Doug Marrone and the Orange. Syracuse accepted an invitation to play in the inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Thursday. The Orange will take on Kansas State on December 30 in New Yankee Stadium at 3:30. A LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse extended its winning streak on Tuesday, November 30 with a 78-58 victory against Cornell in the Carrier Dome. Senior Rick Jackson led all scorers with 17 points. He also pulled down 13 rebounds for his sixth consecutive double-double and 13th of his career. Junior Kris Joseph scored 16 points, while freshman Dion Waiters came off the bench to add 11 points and four assists.
Leading 15-7, the Orange scored 14 unanswered points on its way to a 38-17 halftime lead. The Big Red found its rhythm out of intermission, outscoring the hosts, 14-5, to cut the lead to 12, 43-31. The visitors managed to get as close as 11 in the second half, twice, before Syracuse pulled away for good.
Freshman Fab Melo had his most productive game of the season against Cornell. He recorded career highs in points (8), rebounds (7), blocked shots (4) and minutes played (22).
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
North Carolina State enters Saturday's game with a 4-2 record. The Wolfpack has already faced BIG EAST competition this season in a 82-67 setback to Georgetown on Nov. 21. Since then, North Carolina State lost to Wisconsin, 87-48, in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
Freshman Lorenzo Brown and sophomore Scott Wood are the top two scorers for North Carolina State. Both are averaging 11.7 points per game. Brown leads the team in assists with 3.7 per game.
Freshman Ryan Harrow (10.2 ppg.) is also in double figures in scoring, while Richard Howell leads the Wolfpack on the boards with 6.7 per contest.
Sidney Lowe is in his fifth season as the head coach of North Carolina State. He has an all-time record of 75-64 (.540). Prior to returning to his alma mater, Lowe served as an assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons from 2004-2006 and the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies from 2000-03.
Lowe was the starting point guard for the Wolfpack's 1983 National Championship team under legendary coach Jim Valvano. He played in the NBA and CBA from 1983-1990.
