
Football Places 14 on BIG EAST All-Academic Team

Fourteen members of the Orange football team earned 2009 BIG EAST All-Academic Team honors. SU's 14 tied for third in the BIG EAST for the most student-athletes honored. The league recognized 106 football student-athletes who have completed at least two semesters with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Since the recognition began in 1992, 78 Syracuse football student-athletes have been honored on the conference's academic team 141 times.
Seniors Jim McKenzie, Andrew Robinson and Derrell Smith earned the honor for the third time in their careers, while Dalton Phillips and Kevyn Scott were recognized for the second time at Syracuse.
First-time honorees include Ian Allport, Torrey Ball, Adam Harris, Rob Long, Ryan Nassib, Robert Nieves, Greg Paulus, Tom Trendowski and Dan Vaughan.
The 2010 football squad beings spring practice on March 22 and the annual Spring game will be held on April 17.
