SU Athletics Kicks Off "Success by 6" Book Drive

The Syracuse University Athletics Department continues its longstanding tradition of hosting the first day of the United Way of Central New York's 12th Annual Success By 6 “Bring on the Books!” drive on Saturday, February 27 at the men's basketball game against Villanova. Fans in attendance can drop off new and gently used books and monetary donations at the Carrier Dome from 7:30-9:00 p.m.
This community-wide book collection will provide books to local child care providers, after-school programs and other organizations in need of children's books as part of Success By 6's efforts to promote reading and literacy. The drive concludes on March 15.
The following community drop-off locations will also be collecting books starting on Monday, March 1:

· Alliance Bank (all Onondaga County branches)

· The Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce (572 S, Salina St., Syracuse)

· Time Warner Cable offices (500 S. Salina St., Syracuse; and 6005 Fair Lakes Road, East Syracuse)

· The Post-Standard (1 S. Clinton St., Syracuse)

· United Way of Central New York (518 James St., Syracuse)

· NewsChannel 9 WSYR-TV (5904 Bridge St., East Syracuse)

“Bring on the Books” is held every winter and books are collected at more than 80 business locations. Last year, the book drive gathered more than 12,000 books, which were distributed to more than 75 sites working with children throughout Onondaga County, including Head Start, Pre-K and child care programs.
