ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships

Distance Squad Competes on Day One of ECAC/IC4A

BOSTON, Mass. - The Syracuse University track and field teams completed day one of both the ECAC and IC4A Indoor Championships on Saturday, Mar. 6. After the first day of competition, the men are tied for third with Temple University in the IC4A Championships, while the women are currently sitting in a four-way tie with Rutgers, George Washington, and St. John's for fourth place at the ECAC Championships.
On day one, the women's multi-event specialist, senior Uhunoma Osazuwa, placed second overall in the pentathlon with 3,609 points. Osazuwa won the title in the pentathlon's first event, the 60-meter hurdles, with a time of 8.95.
In the women's 5,000-meter finals, junior Catherine DeSarle led the Orange. DeSarle placed seventh with a time of 16:52.67. Sophomore Natalie Busby finished ninth (16:54.51) and junior Katie Hursey rounded out the top 10 (16:56.59).
As for day one of the IC4A Championships, senior Jeff Scull had a strong finish in the men's 3,000-meter run, where he placed second overall with a time of 8:13.97. Fellow senior Dan Busby, who finished less than one second behind scull, took fourth. Sophomore Corey Robinson crossed the line with a time of 8:21.70 to finish 21st.
Junior Kwaku Boah represented the Orange in the men's weight throw, finishing 21st with a mark of 16.29m.
The ECAC/IC4A Championships will conclude on Sunday, Mar. 7.
