CAMDEN, N.J. – The Syracuse University women's rowing team travels to Camden, N.J. on Sunday May 16 for the 2010 Eastern Sprints. The Orange will have five boats in action on the Cooper River.
The varsity eight, ranked 10th in the final EAWRC Coaches Poll, is in heat No. 3 which is set to launch at 9 a.m. SU is set to compete against No. 3 Brown, No. 4 Dartmouth, No. 9 Radcliffe, No. 15 Boston College, and No. 16 M.I.T. The top two will advance to the final scheduled for 4:55 p.m.
Syracuse's second varsity eight, which is also ranked 10th in the EAWRC Coaches Poll, hits the water at 9:30 a.m. in heat No. 3. The Orange will face No. 3 Yale, No. 4 Columbia, No. 9 Dartmouth, No. 15 George Washington and No. 16 Georgetown.
The third varsity eight is SU's first boat to take the water Sunday. 11th-ranked SU is in heat No. 2 set to take off at 8:10 a.m. against No. 2 Cornell, No. 5 Princeton, No. 8 Columbia and No. 14 Rutgers.
Syracuse's varsity four ranks 15th in the EAWRC Coaches Poll and launches in heat No. 1 at 9:45 a.m. The Orange is set to challenge No. 1 Princeton, No. 3 Yale, No. 6 Radcliff and No. 7 Dartmouth.
The second varsity four, ranked eighth in the final EAWRC Coaches Poll, is in heat No. 1 at 10:15 a.m. SU is set to compete against No. 1 Brown, No. 4 Boston, No. 5 Bucknell and No. 9 Navy.
Last season, The Orange had two boats qualify for the grand finals. The novice eight and the third varsity four “B” boat each qualified for the grand final, while SU's varsity eight, second varsity eight, third varsity four “A” and the second novice four each qualified for the petite finals.
