Orange In Action On Hilton Head Island

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Orange tennis team continues its summer tour in the wild card draw at the USTA Women's 10K Pro Circuit Tournament at the Van Der Meer Tennis Center.
Three Syracuse doubles teams were in action on Thursday, with two advancing to the semifinals. The team of Alessondra Parra and Simone Kalhorn moved on with a quarterfinal victory after having a bye in the opening round. Parra and Kalhorn overcame a 7-3 deficit to win an eight-game pro set, 9-7.
Eleanor Peters and Emily Harman joined Parra and Kalhorn in the semifinals. They are still alive after a win in their quarterfinal matchup.
Christina Tan and Jacquelynn Tang were not as fortunate. They won their first-round match, but were ousted in the quarterfinals.
Parra/Kalhorn and Peters/Harman will resume play on Friday. Both squads are looking to advance to the final round of the wild card draw.
The USTA Women's 10K is the second-longest running pro circuit event. More than 150 professional and highly-ranked junior players from around the world are expected to compete in the tournament.
The tournament's main draw gets underway on June 2.
