More than 1,550 fans turned out to get their first look at the 2010 squad at the annual Fan Fest. Members of the Orange Empire lined the fence at the Schwartzwalder and Katz practice fields to watch the gridders on day five of preseason camp, the first in full pads.
Fans who attended the annual event were treated to a variety of family friendly activities and concessions while taking in football practice. Student-athletes and coaches signed autographs for the many in attendance after practice. Pop Warner football player Matt Paul from Jamesville was one of the Orange faithful in attendance.
“This is really cool,” Paul said. “These guys are huge, this is way more intense than our practices.”
Syracuse kicks off the 2010 season at Akron on Saturday, September 4 (6:00 p.m., ESPN3). SU opens at home against Maine on September 18 at 7:15 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Tickets are available online (click here) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (888-DOME-TIX). starting at $100.
