SYRACUSE, NY – Syracuse and Iona will meet on the hardwood for the first time since 1998 when the two squads clash on Saturday, December 18, in the Carrier Dome.
The Orange and the Gaels have competed three times previously and Syracuse claimed victory in all three contests. The first two games were played in the Carrier Dome, in 1978-79 and 1983-84. The most recent encounter was a 1998 NCAA Tournament matchup.
Iona was 21-10 overall and 12-6 in the Metro Athletic Atlantic Conference (MAAC) last season. The Gaels lost in the MAAC Tournament quarterfinals to Niagara, 68-64.
Tim Cluess is in his first season as Iona's head coach. He joined the Gael staff after a successful stint as head coach at C.W. Post. Cluess replaced Kevin Willard, who was hired at Seton Hall.
New season tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, September 8, at 10:00 a.m. Single-game sales will start on Wednesday, October 13, at 10:00 a.m.
