SU Off to Best Start in Program History

BRONX, N.Y. - Syracuse (10-0) swept its matches Stony Brook and Fordham on day one of Rose Hill Classic action. With the pair of wins, the Orange extended its undefeated streak to 10 games, marking the best season start in program history at 10-0. Previously, SU's best record through its first two games had been 9-1, both in 2004 and 1991.
Junior outside hitter Noemie Lefebvre paved the way for the Orange offense, notching 22 kills through the two matches. Lefebvre registered a match-best 12 kills against Fordham, while senior outside hitter Hayley Todd's 13 kills against Stony Brook were a match high. Freshman middle blocker Lindsay McCabe was deadly accurate, registering 18 kills and only one error while leading the team in hitting percentage in both matches. Sophomore middle blocker Samantha Hinz added 10 kills on the day while senior right side Mindy Stanislovaitis had 12 total kills. Sophomore setter Laura Homann set the tone for the offense, dishing out 63 assists through the six sets.
Defensively, redshirt freshman Zoe Guzman set the tone with 11 digs on the day while senior defensive specialist Sarah Hayes chipped in 10 and senior libero Ashley Williams added nine.
The Orange resumes Rose Hill Classic play in the hunt for its third tournament title of the season when it takes on Rider and Harvard tomorrow at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
