Orange Defeats Hoyas in BIG EAST Opener

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior outside hitter Mindy Stanislovaitis fired off a team-best 11 kills to lead Syracuse (17-0) to a 3-1 victory against Georgetown on Friday night in the BIG EAST opener. After dropping the first set, 25-20, the Orange rallied to take three straight and continue its best start in program history.
Stanislovaitis hit .500 with a pair of digs and four block assists for a team-best 13.0 points. Junior outside hitter Noemie Lefebvre, senior outside hitter Hayley Todd and sophomore outside hitter Erin Little all added eight kills. Lefebvre led the team defensively with 11 digs while Todd added six block assists. Freshman Lindsay McCabe added four kills while logging a team-best eight rejections and sophomore setter Laura Homann dished out 36 helpers in the contest.
Defensively, senior Sarah Hayes had 10 kills, playing libero for the final three sets while sophomore Zoe Guzman had a pair of digs and posted her first career kill.
The Orange travels south to Tampa to take on the USF Bulls on Sunday, September 26 at 2 p.m.
