Syracuse freshman wide receiver Steve Rene will miss the remainder of the 2010 season due to a left shoulder injury sustained on September 25 during Syracuse's 42-7 victory against Colgate. An MRI taken on September 26 revealed an injury to the shoulder joint that will require surgery. As a result of the surgery and rehabilitation process, Rene will not return for the 2010 season.
The Brooklyn, N.Y. native has played primarily on special teams, recording three punt returns and one tackle in four games this season. Rene is one of 15 freshmen to play for the Orange this season.
The 2010 Orange (3-1 overall) return to the field on Saturday, October 9 at South Florida (12:00 p.m., BIG EAST Network). The Orange has a bye this Saturday (October 2).
Syracuse returns to the Carrier Dome to host Pittsburgh on October 16 for the University's homecoming/reunion weekend known as Orange Central. Tickets are available online and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (888-DOME-TIX). Season tickets start at $100.
