
Carter Earns East-West Shrine MVP Honor

Orange tailback Delone Carter (Copley, Ohio) added East-West Shrine Game MVP honors to his resume with a standout performance in the annual college all-star game on Saturday. Carter gained 54 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 16-yard touchdown run in the East's 25-8 victory in Orlando. He also had a three-yard reception.
The MVP of the inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl, Carter closed his Syracuse career third on the Orange's all-time rushing yards record list with 3,104 yards on 646 carries. Carter earned the bowl game MVP award after rushing for 198 yards on 27 carries and scoring two touchdowns. His 1,233 rushing yards in 2010 ranks third on the SU single-season record list. In 42 games for the Orange, Carter averaged 73.9 yards per game, which is seventh in SU history.
SU linebacker linebacker Doug Hogue (Yonkers, N.Y.) and center Ryan Bartholomew (Mitchelville, Md.) also played in the 86th annual East-West Shrine Game at the Florida Citrus Bowl.
The annual East-West Shrine Game, which is America's longest-running college all-star football game, has featured former Syracuse players including Ernie Davis, John Mackey, Art Monk, current head coach Doug Marrone, Don McPherson and Marvin Harrison among the 68 former Syracuse players who have participated in the East-West Shrine Game.
