
Boeheim Selected As "Father Of The Year" Award Recipient

NEW YORK, NY – The National Father's Day Council today announced that it has selected Jim Boeheim, Syracuse University Men's Basketball Coach, as a 2011 "Father of the Year" Award recipient. The awards will be presented at the 70th Annual Father of the Year Awards in New York City on Thursday, June 16, 2011. Mr. Boeheim joins Brendan Hoffman, President and CEO of Lord & Taylor, as a fellow 2011 “Father of the Year.” The Committee expects to announce additional honorees in the coming weeks.

Mr. Boeheim has served as Head Men's Basketball Coach at Syracuse University, his alma mater, for 34 years. He is a four-time Big East Coach of the Year and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005. Mr. Boeheim ranks fifth on the all-time Division I coaches victory list trailing only Bob Knight, Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp and Mike Krzyzewski. This past year, he and his wife Juli started the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation, a non-profit organization to benefit children in need. Mr. Boeheim has also dedicated his time to various charitable causes such as Coaches vs. Cancer, the Children's Miracle Network, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Special Olympics. He is the father of four children: Elizabeth, James Arthur, and twins Jack and Jamie.
