STORRS, Conn. – The Syracuse University volleyball team (11-6, 2-1 BIG EAST) registered its second-consecutive conference sweep as the Orange defeated Connecticut (8-9, 0-4 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon (27-25, 25-18, 26-24) at Gampel Pavilion.

Trailing by seven in the first set, Syracuse stormed back with a 12-2 run to take a 16-13 advantage. The two teams would then play neck-to-neck before a kill from Ying Shen ultimately gave SU the first set, 27-25.

The Orange dominated set two from start to finish and saw its largest lead reach eight points. Andrea Fisher led the attack with five of her 10 kills in the set. An attacking error from the Huskie's Jackie Wattles gave SU the 25-18 set two victory.

Down 20-18 in the third set, Erin Little and Noemie Lefebvre each recorded two kills as the Orange rallied for a 26-24 decision to secure the win.

Little had a team-high 11 kills while Lefebvre tallied a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Sam Hinz added a game-high five blocks.

Setter Laura Homann dished out 37 assists and in the process became the sixth player at Syracuse to have 3,000 assists in a career. She now has 3,002.

“Any conference win on the road is a good win,” assistant coach Kelly Morrisroe said. “The team played focused today and we executed our game plan well.”

The Orange looks to continue momentum this Wednesday when SU hosts Colgate at 7 p.m. The contest is the first of a four match home stand with BIG EAST foes Villanova, Georgetown and Marquette to follow.
