PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Syracuse goes for its third consecutive victory when it takes on Rutgers on Sunday, Oct. 2 in Piscataway, N.J. The Orange enters the game with a 4-4-3 overall record and a 3-2 mark in BIG EAST play. The Scarlet Knights are 6-5-1, including a 1-3-1 mark in conference action.
THE SERIES
Sunday's game at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. marks the 14th meeting between Syracuse and Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights lead the all-time series, 7-5-1. The Orange snapped a seven-game series losing streak to RU last season with a 1-0 victory at the SU Soccer Stadium.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
Jonelle Filigno is Rutgers' leading scorer this season with 13 points. She has tallied six goals this
season, which tie for third in the BIG EAST. Amy Pietrangelo and Jasmine Edwards tie for the team
lead in assists with two apiece. Emmy Simpkins has started every game in goal for the Scarlet
Knights.
A LOOK BACK FOR THE ORANGE
Syracuse is coming off its best offensive performance of the season. The Orange recorded a season high in goals scored in a 4-1 victory at Seton Hall on Friday. Senior Casey Ramirez, sophomore Cecilia Borgstrom, freshman Megan Hunsberger and junior Tina Romagnuolo each scored a goal in the victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Anghel made four saves.
