SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University volleyball team (14-8, 3-3) will host two critical conference matches this weekend beginning with Rutgers (8-15, 1-5) on Friday night, followed by Seton Hall (13-8, 4-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Women's Building.
The Orange is currently in eighth place in the BIG EAST standings and is vying for a spot in the conference tournament. The top eight teams advance to Marquette for post-season play.
SU has eight conference matches remaining, four of which are with teams below them in the standings, including the Scarlet Knights. The Orange has a current seven match unbeaten streak against Rutgers and a 15-7 all-time series advantage.
First serve between SU and the Scarlet Knights is set for Friday at 5:00 p.m.
SU then has an opportunity to gain ground on Seton Hall on Sunday as SHU is currently in fifth place, but has just one more conference win than SU does.
The Pirates are paced offensively by Meghan Matusiak who is second in conference with a 3.71 kills per set average. Defensively, Alyssa Warren ranks third in the BIG EAST with a 5.51 digs per set average.
The match on Sunday between the Orange and the Pirates is at 2:00 p.m. Orange All-Access will be providing a live web-stream of the contest.
