Spruill Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

After leading the Orange with a season-high nine tackles at Louisville last weekend, sophomore linebacker Marquis Spruill was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in his career on Monday.
Spruill is third on the team this season with 45 tackles (31 solo), including 4.5 for a loss of yards. Spruill also has 2.5 sacks this season, helping the Orange to a tie for 27th in the country with 2.50 sacks per game. He also has two fumble recoveries in 2011, which is tied for fifth in the BIG EAST and leads an Orange defense that is tied for 44th in the nation with seven fumble recoveries.
The Hillside, N.J. native, who has started in 20-of-21 games he has played in during his career, forced his first career fumble against the Cardinals on Saturday in the first quarter. His seven solo tackles against Louisville also marked a new career high.
The Orange continues its two-game road trip against Connecticut on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (ESPNU). SU will return to the Carrier Dome on November 11 against South Florida (8:00 p.m., ESPN2).
