'Cuse To 'Close Out 2011 As #1!

Syracuse (13-0) has held on to the top spot in both national polls and secured number one for the remainder of 2011. The new rankings were released on Monday, December 26, and the Orange was voted first for the third week in a row.
The Orange is 13-0 for the third straight season. SU begins BIG EAST Conference play on Wednesday, December 28, when the Orange host Seton Hall in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse closes out the 2011 portion of its schedule against the Pirates.
Syracuse claimed 30-of-31 first-place votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. Ohio State earned the other first-place nod. The top nine -- Syracuse, Ohio State, Kentucky, Louisville, Duke, North Carolina, Baylor, Missouri and Connecticut -- did not change. Other BIG EAST squads in the top 25 besides Syracuse, Louisville and Connecticut included Georgetown (12), Marquette (13).
In the Associated Press Poll earned 54-of-65 first-place votes. Ohio State (5), Kentucky (4) and Louisville (2) received the others. Connecticut (ninth), Georgetown (12th), Marquette (14th) and Pittsburgh (22nd) were the other BIG EAST clubs who were ranked.
