Freeney Selected To 2012 Pro Bowl

Dwight Freeney, a four-year Syracuse letterwinner and current defensive end for the Indianapolis Colts, was selected to the 2012 Pro Bowl on Monday. It is the fourth consecutive season that Freeney has earned a spot among the NFL's elite players, and seventh time in his career.
Freeney is in his 10th season with Indianapolis, and is the franchise's all-time sacks leader (101.5). This season, he has 18 tackles, including 7.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. He is the only Colts player with seven double-digit sack seasons, including four straight from 2002-05. The 11th overall selection in the 2002 NFL Draft, Freeney has started in 128 of his 148 career games with the Colts.
Freeney had two sacks at Baltimore on December 11, pushing him past the 100-sack total for his career. He is one of just 27 players to reach the 100 -sack milestone, and has 25 career multiple-sack games. He has leveled 49 different opposing quarterbacks, has sacks against 26 of 31 teams, and has produced seven of the 17 double-digit sack seasons in Colts' history.

During his senior season in 2001, Freeney led the nation with 17.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles. His eight forced fumbles is also a former NCAA record. He was named a unanimous All-American in 2001, and was the co-winner of the BIG EAST Player of the Year honor. Freeney was also a finalist for the Lombardi, Bednarik and Nagurski awards.
