SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Syracuse University Sport Management Club (SPM) Club will hold its seventh annual Charity Sports Auction on Saturday, December 10, at the Carrier Dome. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for the auction through Gates A, B, C & E. The auction will be held during the Syracuse men's basketball game against George Washington.
The silent bidding will take place in the backcourt for more than 400 items. Items include autographed items; restaurant gift certificates; electronics; tickets; gift items; hotel accommodations and more. Silent bidding will continue through the start of the game at 7:00 p.m. Fans can place final bids during halftime; the auction closes precisely at the buzzer announcing the second half of the game.
In addition, the online portion of the auction is now live. Please click here between now and Dec. 19 to bid on more than15 truly unique items and experiences.
The proceeds from this year's auction will benefit the Upstate Cancer Center. Since its founding, the student-run SPM club has raised more than $100,000 for local charities, such as the CNY Ronald McDonald House, Syracuse Boys & Girls Club, Golisano Children's Hospital at Upstate, and Central New York SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
“The commitment of our students to this event is well beyond an experiential learning experience,” said Kate Veley, manager, career center and event planning, Department of Sport Management, and 2011 auction chair. “For our students, this event is an important opportunity to make a difference in the Syracuse community. We truly couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them and the amazing event they are organizing.”
Upstate Medical University, already the number-one comprehensive cancer program in Central New York, is once again striking back: this time by building the five-story Upstate Cancer Center. The center will be a 90,000-square-foot, outpatient facility destined to become the region's most comprehensive—yet convenient—resource for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and related disorders.
The purchase of a game ticket for the Dec. 10 Syracuse men's basketball game will include access to the charity sport auction. Tickets can be purchased on www.suathletics.com or at the Carrier Dome Box Office. Tickets can also be ordered by phone at 1-800-DOMETIX.
