Casey Powell To Start NLL All-Star Game

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Four-time All-American and Syracuse legend Casey Powell has been selected to start the 2011 National Lacrosse League (NLL) All-Star Game. Hosted by the Oneida Indian Nation, the game will be held at 2 p.m. at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona on Sunday, Feb. 27.
Powell, a member of the Boston Blazers and a seven-time NLL All-Star, will start at forward for the East. The starting lineups for the East and West squads were based on the voting results of media, fans and NLL coaches. Powell leads the NLL with 44 points this season, including 23 goals.
At Syracuse, Powell wore the famed #22 jersey and finished his career as one of the most decorated college lacrosse players of all-time. He won the Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award as the USILA Player of the Year twice (1997, 1998). Powell also took home the Lt. Donald C. McLaughlin, Jr. Award as country's most outstanding midfielder in 1996 and the Lt. Col. Jack Turnball Award as the nation's most outstanding attackman in 1998.
Powell is still tied for second at Syracuse in career points (287). He set the school single-game record with 13 points against Virginia in 1997.
