Syracuse football coach Doug Marrone has shifted coaching responsibilities within his staff in order to continue the development of the student-athletes and the program.
“Keeping our staff together will pay dividends for us,” Marrone said. “As we continue to develop the student-athletes in our program, we have re-organized our staff to allow us to specialize our coaching to be more specific to each position. We will be more efficient in coaching and training. I feel good about where we are because we are headed in the right direction.”
On the offensive side of the ball, assistant coach Nathaniel Hackett, who mentored SU's quarterbacks and passing game in 2010, will be Syracuse's offensive coordinator in addition to coaching the quarterbacks and tight ends in his second season on the staff. Receivers coach Rob Moore, running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley and offensive line coach/recruiting coordinator Greg Adkins will continue in their roles.
On the defensive side of the ball, John Anselmo will be Syracuse's assistant head coach and work with the linebackers, along with current linebackers coach Dan Conley, while defensive coordinator Scott Shafer will mentor the defensive backs. In addition, recently hired assistant Tim Daoust will mentor the Orange defensive ends and third-year SU assistant coach Jimmy Brumbaugh will coach the defensive tackles.
Marrone has divided special teams coaching responsibilities among the entire coaching staff.
The 2011 Orange begin Spring practice on March 8 and the annual Spring game is set for April 16 in the Carrier Dome.
