PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Syracuse University softball squad returns to the diamond this weekend in its first BIG EAST action of the 2011 season. The Orange begins its conference schedule with a three-game series at Rutgers. SU will take on the Scarlet Knights in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 26. The conference foes will close out the series with a single game on Sunday, March 27 at 1 p.m. All of the weekend's action will take place at the RU Softball Complex.
Syracuse Notes
• Syracuse, which won its first BIG EAST title last season, is the first BIG EAST team to win 20 games this year, as the Orange take a 21-5 overall mark into the series at Rutgers
• After sweeping a doubleheader against Penn on March 18, the Orange heads into this weekend's BIG EAST action with a five-game win streak
• SU has logged 10 or more hits in nine games so far this season
• Junior Lisaira Daniels leads SU's offensive effort with a .357 batting average through 26 games
• Catcher Lacey Kohl leads Syracuse with five homeruns this season. Prior to this year, Kohl had just two homeruns in her career at SU
• Second baseman Stephanie Watts has recorded a team-best 12 extra-base hits in 24 appearances this season
• Pitcher Jenna Caira leads the conference in innings pitched (116.1), strikeouts (122) and wins (12) in 2011

• Rutgers enters the weekend looking to snap a seven-game losing streak. The team dropped a 10-2 decision in its last outing against No.20 Oklahoma State.
• Juniors Brittney Lindley and Mikelyn Messina have paced RU this season, hitting .440 and .423, respectively. The pair has combined for 10 of 14 team home runs and 43 of 106 team RBI.
