STANFORD, Calif. – Six members of the Syracuse University track and field team ran personal best times at the Stanford Invitational on March 25 and 26. Four distance runners ran their way to top-10 finishes and all 15 runners competing at Stanford slated BIG EAST qualifying times.
In the women's 5,000-meter run, junior Lauren Penney and senior Katie Hursey set personal bests with times of 16:09.44 and 16:10.50, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively in section one. Sophomore Sarah Pagano also earned a sixth place finish in section three of the 5,000-meter run with a personal best time of 16:32.44.
Senior Rebekah MacKay (16:52.40) and junior Heather Stephens (17:09.43) competed in section two of the 5,000-meter run, placing 13th and 18th, respectively.
Senior Cassie White's time of 10:33.95 in the 3,000-meter run earned her an eighth place finish. In the 10,000-meter event, senior Catherine DeSarle registered a career best time of 33:38.94, which took 13th. Junior Natalie Busby finished crossed the finish line at 34:52.76 to earn a 33rd place finish.
On the men's side, sophomore Joseph Bubniak recorded the highest finish in fifth with a time of 3:52.06 in the 1,500-meter run.
In section three of the 5,000-meter, sophomore Robert Molke ran a personal best time of 14:22.25, finishing in 11th place. Senior Corey Robinson competed in section two, placing 13th at 14:22.88.
The Orange had four runners in the 10,000-meter run. In section one, juniors Tito Medrano and Pat Dupont, took secured the 17th and 28th spots with time of 29:22.48 and 30;13.77, respectively.
Senior Jay Koloseus and sophomore Sean Keefe each set personal bests in the 10,000. Koloseus finished in 21st with a time of 29:58.37 and Keefe crossed the finish line in 25th at 30:06.94.
