Senior Rick Jackson earned All-America honors from the Associated Press in an announcement by the wire service on Monday. Jackson was an honorable mention selection.
Jackson was named the 2010-11 BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was a second-team all-league selection as a senior. He led the BIG EAST in rebound and blocked shot averages.
He averaged 13.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, becoming the first Syracuse player since Carmelo Anthony to average a double-double for a season. Jackson started all 35 games for Syracuse this winter and helped the Orange to a 27-8 overall record. S.U. was ranked as high as third in the national polls, finished fourth in the conference regular season, and reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
Jackson led the Orange in rebound and blocked shot averages while finishing second in scoring average. He completed his carer with 1,245 points, tied for 35th on Sryacuse's all-time scoring list. His 143 career games was second only to Stephen Thompson's 144, and equaled Derrick Coleman's title.

Jackson is one of only six players who have accumulated 1,000 points, 800 rebounds and 200 blocks at Syracuse -- the others are Roosevelt Bouie, Derrick Coleman, Rony Seikaly, Etan Thomas, John Wallace.
