Orange No. 1 In Both National Polls

NIKE/Inside Lacrosse Poll | USILA Poll
BALTIMORE – The Syracuse men's lacrosse team is the unanimous No. 1 team in the nation after defeating Virginia on March 4. The Orange held on to the top spot for the third straight week in the latest NIKE/Inside Lacrosse Poll released on Monday, March 7 , and after sharing the No. 1 ranking with Virginia in last week's USILA Coaches Poll, Syracuse is alone at the top of this week's poll after defeating the Cavaliers, 12-10.
The Orange received 240 points and all 12 first-place votes in both sets of rankings. Virginia is second in both polls with 222 points.
Overall, the top eight teams in both polls are the same this week. Syracuse and Virginia are followed by Notre Dame (No. 3), Hofstra (No. 4), Massachusetts (No. 5), Stony Brook (No. 6), Princeton (No. 7) and Maryland (No.8).
Syracuse opens BIG EAST Conference play on Saturday, March 12 against Georgetown at the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic. The game is slated for 11 a.m. at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium. It will be televised live nationally on ESPNU.
