SYRACUSE – The ninth-ranked Syracuse University men's rowing program invites alumni, supporters, friends and fans to the James A. Ten Eyck Memorial Boathouse in Longbranch Park on Saturday, April 23 to celebrate the dedication of SU's newest vessel, the “Joseph E. Peter IV.”
Mr. Joseph Peter has been a long time donor to the men's crew program. One of Mr. Peter's goals is to always have a racing shell in the boathouse with the name Peter on it. This new boat will be replacing the “Joseph E. Peter III,” which was totaled in last year's trailer accident. Mr. Peter and his family have also established both a scholarship endowment and a boat fund with the University.
The ceremony will take place around 9 a.m. after racing has finished. The Conlan Cup will be at stake as the Orange hosts No. 4 Boston and No. 12 Columbia beginning at 8 a.m.
