
Orange Rank #7 In IRCA/IRA Preseason Coaches Poll

The Syracuse men's rowing team enters the 2026 spring season with its Varsity Eight crew ranked tied for seventh in the IRCA/IRA Preseason Coaches Poll, released Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association's Awards & Polling Committee. The Orange collected 165 points in the D1/D2 Varsity 8+ standings, tying Northeastern University at seventh.
Syracuse is one of eight programs to crack the top 10 in the preseason rankings, slotting in behind No. 6 Brown University (178 points) and ahead of No. 9 Stanford University (159 points). The University of Washington leads the poll with 225 points and nine first-place votes, followed by California (213) and Harvard (209).
The poll is conducted jointly by the IRCA and IRA and features nine D1/D2 pollsters representing every region in men's collegiate rowing. Rankings will be updated weekly on Wednesdays throughout the regular season.
Syracuse will open its 2026 season on April 11 at the Princeton Invitational, where the Orange will face a field that includes four other ranked programs in No. 4 Princeton, No. 5 California, No. 9 Stanford and No. 10 Yale, as well as No. 6 Brown.
