Cooney To Compete In Capital Classic

Trevor Cooney, who has signed a letter of intent with Syracuse University, has been chosen to play in the 38th Annual Capital Classic. The annual all-star game for high school boys basketball is scheduled for Sunday, April 17 at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.
The District All-Stars will play the Suburban Alll-Stars at 1:00 p.m., followed by the U.S. All-Stars, for whom Cooney will play, versus the Capital All-Stars, at 3:00 p.m.
A 6-4 guard for Sanford School (Delaware), Cooney played on state championship squads in each of the last two years. He was a member of the 2010 USA Basketball Men's Under-18 Team that captured the 2010 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship. Cooney was the group's fifth-leading scorer, averaging 8.8 points per game.
The event is the longest-running high school basketball All-Star game in the country. Syracuse All-American Carmelo Anthony played in the All-Star game before joining the Orange program.
