SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Pitcher Lindsay Taylor will join the Syracuse University softball squad beginning in 2011-12, head coach Leigh Ross announced today. Taylor, a native of Kings Park, N.Y., is currently a high school senior at Kings Park High School.
"Lindsay will be a great addition to our pitching staff next year," Coach Ross said. "She has proven herself as one of the top pitchers in the state of New York and is a fine all-around player as well. I am certain her competitive nature and work ethic will allow her to be successful in the BIG EAST. We are thrilled that she is joining the Syracuse family."
The two-time Suffolk County Class A Pitcher of the Year selection has broken every Kings Park pitching record, including most wins (69), strikeouts (833) and perfect games (4). During her high school career, Taylor has been a two-time all-state honoree and four-time all-conference selection. The right-handed hurler's accolades also include NFCA All-Region Second Team honors.
As a junior in 2010, she set a New York State single-season record with nine no-hitters. Also in her junior season, the three-time team MVP led her squad in homeruns (7) and RBI (33).
