SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University track and field team will participate in the Cornell Big Red Invitational on Sunday, May 1. Action is slated to kickoff at 11 a.m. Click here for a complete schedule.
The Big Red Invitational will provide one last chance for Orange student-athletes to qualify for the BIG EAST Championship. The conference championship will be held at Villanova University from March 6-8.
Freshman sprinter Serenity Martin will represent Syracuse in the 100 and 200-meter dash, while sophomore jumper Aubree Mercure will compete in the triple jump and long jump.
Sophomore Tara Brenner and senior Danielle Sherwood will represent the Orange in the pole vault.
On the men's side senior thrower Kwaku Boah, who previously qualified for BIG EAST competition in the shot put, will compete in the hammer throw. Junior thrower Mark Melilli will also represent SU and has also qualified for the conference championship in the javelin. Seniors Nicholas Damato and Evan Stivala will be multi-event participants for SU.
Sprinters, junior Mike Tichenor and sophomore Tyler McCully round out Syracuse's list of competitors at Cornell.
