DES MOINES, Iowa – Katie Hursey became Syracuse's fourth student-athlete to earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America status this week at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Drake University. She recorded a 14th-place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase to garner second-team All-America honors.
Hursey advanced to the finals after finishing sixth in her heat in the semifinals on Friday. She crossed the finish line in the finals in a time of 10:43.28. She joined junior Tito Medrano on the second team, while seniors Kelsey Rubeor (heptathlon) and Flings Owusu-Agyapong (100m dash) received honorable mention All-America honors.
