Boeheim Honored As National Father of the Year

Jim Boeheim will be honored at the 70th Annual National Father of the Year Luncheon on Thursday, June 16 at the Sheraton New York Hotel. Boeheim is one of six recipients of the 2011 Father's of the Year Award presented by the National Father's Day Committee.
In addition to Boeheim, the other 2011 Fathers of the Year include:
Boeheim has been very active in a number of charitable causes during his coaching career. The Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation has been active in the Syracuse and Central New York Committees with an annual "Basket Ball," a black-tie gala, The Jim Boeheim Golf Classic, Courts 4 Kids, and Cruise for a Cure, among other projects.
The first recipient of the award was General Douglas MacArthur in 1942. Since that time, honorees have included presidents (Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy), members of the military (Genearl Richard B. Myers, General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, General Dwight D. Eisenhower), entertainers (Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Jack Lemmon, Larry King) and sports figures (Babe Ruth, Sugar Ray Robinson, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Arthur Ashe, Mike Krzyzewski).
Boeheim and his wife, Juli, have three children: sons Jimmy and Jack and daughter Jamie. Jim also has a daughter, Elizabeth.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to Save the Children's U.S. Programs.
