Finalists For USA Men's U-19 Squad Announced

Thirteen players were named Sunday as finalists for the USA Men's U19 World Championship team. The picks were made following three days of training camp that featured 21 players. Incoming Syracuse freshman Trevor Cooney participated but did not make the cut to 13 players.
Cooney, a 6-4 guard, played on back-to-back state championship squads at Sanford School (Delaware). He averaged 13.6 points per game as a senior.
The 13 finalists were slected by the USA Basketball Junior National Team Committee. George Mason head coach Paul Hewitt is leading this USA Basketball squad.
The U19 squad will continue training through June 23, when the official 12-member roster will be announced. The team leaves for Europe on June 24 and will compete in the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship for Men June 30-July 10 in Valmiera, Liepaga and Riga, Latvia.
