SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Head men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim was presented with the Spartan Award by the Third Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division today at the Carmelo Anthony Center. The award was given in honor of the partnership between the men's basketball program and the armed forces at Fort Drum.

Coach Boeheim and the men's basketball program will present the award annually to the SU basketball player that demonstrates the values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage on and off the court.

Presenting the award to coach Boeheim were First Sergeant Milt Yagel and Major Joseph Hoffman.

"We are proud here at Syracuse University to be associated with the soldiers at Fort Drum," said Boeheim.

"We owe so much to these people. What our armed forces do for our country is unbelievable and I don't think we have enough appreciation for what they do for us."
