SU Basketball With Troops In South Afghanistan

Members of the Third Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, have a piece of home with them while they are deployed in South Afghanistan. At their request, a Syracuse University basketball and football was sent to give the troops an Orange connection.
The Syracuse University Athletic Department and the Third Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, have forged a close relationship over the past few years. S.U. student-athletes have visited some of the troops at nearby Fort Drum and the military have taken part in open practices and game activities in the Carrier Dome.
First Lieutenant Thomas Rosa, the public affairs officer from 3 Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Dvision, reports the football and basketball have been "busy" since arriving in Afghanistan.
"The football and basketball are currently going on Combbat Operations," said Lt. Rosa. "Soldiers from each unit in the Brigade are signing and taking tons of photos wih the items. It is a real moral booster!"
