The Syracuse men's basketball team will open its 2011-12 campaign with exhibition games against Division II foes Cal-State Los Angeles and the College of St. Rose in the Carrier Dome. The Orange and the Golden Eagles will square off on Tuesday, November 1, and SU will host the Golden Knights one week later on Tuesday, November 8.
Coached by former SU standout Stephen Thompson, the Cal-State Los Angeles Golden Eagles finished last season with an overall record of 15-13 and a 10-12 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. In the most recent pairing of the two programs, Syracuse defeated Cal State-Los Angeles in a 2009 exhibition game, 97-54.
The College of St. Rose was 22-9 overall and 15-7 in the Northeast 10 Conference. The Golden Knights earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament and advanced to the second round. Coach Brian Beaury is in his 26th season with the Golden Knights.
The Orange most recently matched up with the College of St. Rose in a 2007-08 exhibition game won by SU, 80-71.
