SYRACUSE, NY – Syracuse will host George Washington on Saturday, December 10. It's the first meeting between the two programs since the first round of the 1994 Preseason NIT.
George Washington finished its 2010-11 season 17-14 overall and 10-6 in the Atlantic 10. The Colonials feature new coach Mike Lonergan, who was named to replace Karl Hobbs. Lonergan has 18 years of experience and an overall record of 377-156 in head coaching jobs at Catholic and Vermont. Lonergan's new staff includes assistant director of basketball operations Maurice Joseph, the brother of Syracuse's Kris Joseph.
In the 1994 match-up, the season opener, George Washington won in overtime, 111-104 in overtime. It was the last regular-season game the Orange played in Manley Field House.
Syracuse holds a 7-1 all-time record against the Colonials in a series that dates to the 1966-67 season.
